Jacob's new bed

The first of the two beds I've been working on is finally finished. The last coat of finish (Tung Oil) went on the other day and was finally dry enough for use yesterday. I assembled the bed last night and Jacob had his first night in his new bed.

Though he was pretty excited about the bed, I think he was most excited about his new Sponge Bob Square Pants bedding set.

The best compliment I've received so far on my work on the bed came from Cayla. She said: "Daddy, it looks like a real bed, like one that you didn't even make." She's such a sweetie.

Bunk Beds

Jacob's just about ready to move out of his crib into a real bed. Instead of buying a bed I decided to further my woodworking skills by building a set of bunk beds. It's been a long road! One bed is finished and assembled. I'm working on the finish now. Jacob should be in his bed in just a couple days.

Christopher of course wanted to test out the bed. Overall he was pretty happy, though he did think it could be a bit more comfortable. I told him I'd work on that.

Here's a better view of the bed:

Merry Christmas!

What great fun Christmas is. We were up with the sun opening presents! Needless to say the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves this morning.

If you know us you've probably already seen this picture. We used this pic on our Christmas cards this year. Colorado is a wonderful place to live. We missed the snow photo-op by just a day or two here as the snow is just about gone in this pic.

Though all the presents and fun was great, what was most enjoyable was the time we spent last night and this morning at our church's Christmas Eve and Christmas services. Both were family services so the kids were with us. Last night was a fantastic presentation of the events leading up to and including our Messiah's birth. This morning Pastor Greg taught through Galatians 4:4-5. I really enjoyed this message and the truth in this passage!

Have a blessed Christmas!
