Jacob's new bed

The first of the two beds I've been working on is finally finished. The last coat of finish (Tung Oil) went on the other day and was finally dry enough for use yesterday. I assembled the bed last night and Jacob had his first night in his new bed.

Though he was pretty excited about the bed, I think he was most excited about his new Sponge Bob Square Pants bedding set.

The best compliment I've received so far on my work on the bed came from Cayla. She said: "Daddy, it looks like a real bed, like one that you didn't even make." She's such a sweetie.

Bunk Beds

Jacob's just about ready to move out of his crib into a real bed. Instead of buying a bed I decided to further my woodworking skills by building a set of bunk beds. It's been a long road! One bed is finished and assembled. I'm working on the finish now. Jacob should be in his bed in just a couple days.

Christopher of course wanted to test out the bed. Overall he was pretty happy, though he did think it could be a bit more comfortable. I told him I'd work on that.

Here's a better view of the bed:

Merry Christmas!

What great fun Christmas is. We were up with the sun opening presents! Needless to say the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves this morning.

If you know us you've probably already seen this picture. We used this pic on our Christmas cards this year. Colorado is a wonderful place to live. We missed the snow photo-op by just a day or two here as the snow is just about gone in this pic.

Though all the presents and fun was great, what was most enjoyable was the time we spent last night and this morning at our church's Christmas Eve and Christmas services. Both were family services so the kids were with us. Last night was a fantastic presentation of the events leading up to and including our Messiah's birth. This morning Pastor Greg taught through Galatians 4:4-5. I really enjoyed this message and the truth in this passage!

Have a blessed Christmas!

What is the true meaning of Christmas?

Dixie Cups!

While traveling this week I was out to dinner with a few coworkers. We all decided we wanted to have a little fun. We picked up about 1000 Dixie cups, stapled them together, added about 24 gallons of water, and came up with this!

Off to School

This morning as the kids went off to school I wanted to snap a quick picture of Cayla in her uniform. As is typical, I couldn't take a picture of just Cayla - the others wanted in as well.

Christopher loves to make faces for the camera. Mom's gettin after him to just smile normal.

He was a little sensitive this morning and immediately lost it. Jacob's expressing some real concern here - so cute!

After all that fussing over a picture, Jacob had finally had enough.

And finally, a picture of all three of them in one place all with smiles on their faces. Well OK, Jacob's not exactly smiling, but he sure is cute!

Just a little loopy!

Jodi was feeling a little loopy this evening. Yeah I know, she's crazy but I still love her.

Now this crazy kid thought he'd jump right in and give this second most popular use of a carrot thing a go.

And of course Cayla.

Jacob giving it the old college try.

This kid can climb!

He's absoluely nuts. He'll climb on anything, but he's afraid to walk! I've tried explaining the Acceleration of Gravity, but he just doesn't get it.

Jacob loves his coffee

Jacob likes to throw away his diaper after I change him and I usually open the trash can so he can and then wait and close it. This morning I opened it and then went to help Cayla with something. This is what I got for not waiting. We're a coffee family, that's for sure! :-)

Cayla and her bugs

Cayla has loved catching bugs and holding them for as long as I can remember. She went through one very short phase where she was scared of them. Last summer she found an earthworm and cried and cried when we wouldn't let her keep the worm for a pet. She loved that worm and actually called it her little sweetheart.

New Blankets

We went to Joann's Craft Store today where I let the kids pick out their own fleece material (good sale going on). Cayla picked this beautiful princess material, she says she needed it since she is a princess. Christopher liked the submarine print. He had picked out a basketball pattern but there wasn't enough of it. This was just my speed sewing...none!! All I had to do was cut and tie it. They LOVE them. Makes Mommy proud!!!

Mommy's little helper

Before I went to take a shower the dishwasher was closed and locked, when I got out of the shower, this is what I walked out to. His favorite toy is the dishwasher. As soon as he hears the door open he is right there pulling everything out of it.

Hammin' it up!

Somewhere along the way Christopher developed this rather strange habit. All by his own volition he began making wild and crazy faces and poses when he finds himself in front of a camera. I've never seen anything like this! I mean kids make funny faces sometimes, but he's just out of control.

A quick spin around the block

The kids absolutely love to ride their bikes. The weather's been a little on and off here. If you ask me, we're a little overdue for a consistent dose of spring!

Anyhow, here's a pic of the kids on their bikes - mom took them around the block.
